August 2026 construction update
It’s been another month of steady progress at Kala, with internal stage construction now complete and works well underway across the acoustic (noise) wall.
Construction progress
Internal stage construction is now complete for Stages 1 & 2, including Mt Ararat South Road upgrade and the highway intersection! The acoustic wall is the one remaining infrastructure item, with construction progressing and around half of the concrete pours now complete.
Civil work wrapped up
Stages 1 & 2 reached Practical Completion over two months ago, meaning the civil works are physically built to standard. The next step? Statement of Compliance needs to be obtained once the relevant authority have signed off, these include the council, water authorities, the Department of Transport, among others. From here, the council can issue the Statement of Compliance and The Plan of Subdivision can be lodged with Land Use Victoria, meaning titles can be created and settlement dates set.
Looking ahead
The Statement of Compliance is taking slightly longer than expected, largely due to wet weather and delays in sourcing materials for the acoustic wall amid the current global political environment. While this has added roughly two months to the intended timeframe, it’s worth taking the time to get this right; the wall plays a crucial role in the quiet enjoyment of the community once residents are settled in.
We’ll continue to keep you updated every step of the way, particularly once the Statement of Compliance application is formally lodged. In the meantime, visit the My Kala portal for the latest updates on your specific stage.
