Soil turning ceremony celebrates the start of construction at Kala!

On Friday 4 October, we marked the official start of construction at Kala with a ceremonial soil turning ceremony!

Held on-site with an intimate gathering of key stakeholders and partners, the occasion marked the beginning of what will become a vibrant new community in Melbourne’s southeast.

Looking ahead, earthworks for Stage 1, are set to begin in the coming months, laying the groundwork for future homes, parks and all the great things to come for Kala. With estimated titles for Stage 1 expected in Q3 2025, this momentous day represents the start of bringing our vision to life.

The celebration was complemented by a beautiful spread, and we extend our thanks to Fed by Freda for their exceptional catering, enjoyed by all in attendance. We were also pleased to welcome representatives from Kala’s developer, SIG Group, alongside members of the Core Projects team, whose efforts have been instrumental in bringing this project to fruition.

Reflecting on the event, SIG Group Senior Development Manager Aaron Hatton shared:

“Today marks a truly special day for Kala and Pakenham East. This ceremony is not just about breaking ground; it’s about laying the foundation for what will become the heart of a new community. We’re excited to see Kala play a central role in shaping the identity of this emerging suburb, creating a place where people can thrive and connect with each other and their surroundings.”

We are thrilled to see Kala take shape and invite you to follow our journey as we build a community focused on connection, nature, and opportunity.
