Paint Your Own Pottery Workshop at Robert Gordon
Looking for a creative and fun day out these summer school holidays? Book your budding artist into a Paint Your Own Pottery session at Robert Gordon’s Pakenham studio, where they can choose from a range of Australian-made bisque pieces to paint. And don’t forget to stop by Nancy Eatery next door for a bite to eat.

National Gallery of Victoria Kids on Tour @ Pakenham Library
Friday 17 January and Monday 20 January – Friday 24 January
NGV Kids on Tour is back at Pakenham for 2025! These creative workshops are ready to spark your child’s imagination with playful arts and craft activities inspired by the NGV exhibition program. Plus, it’s a great way to spend some special time with your kids these school holidays.
There will be two sessions available, one for kids aged 4-12 and one for young people aged 12 and over. If you miss out though, don’t worry – drop-in sessions will be hosted during the last week of school holidays.

Lakeside Market Pakenham
Sunday 19 January
Head along to the first Lakeside Market of the New Year! With over 70 stalls to explore at this family friendly street food and makers market there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Visit your local pool
Make a splash at one of Cardinia’s many local pools and stay cool this summer! Koo Wee Rup, Garfield, Pakenham and Emerald Lake Park outdoor pools are now open any day forecasted on or above 25 degrees throughout December, January, February and March. The Summer Calendar of Fun has also returned, featuring loads of events, family-friendly activities, parties, group fitness classes, and the return of the beloved aqua classes & VicSwim holiday program.
Cardinia Reservoir Park
Whether you like to walk, run, play or just unwind and enjoy nature, Cardinia Reservoir Park is a lovely place to explore these school holidays.
Take a walk along the dam wall and admire spectacular views, enjoy a picnic, and let the kids play on the cute timber playground, bushwalk, or kick the footy on the expansive open lawn areas. Dogs are welcome in the park too on lead but aren’t permitted on the Kangaroo Viewing Trail.
Puffing Billy
If you feel like going a little further afield, Puffing Billy is a must-visit for families seeking a unique and nostalgic adventure. This iconic steam train takes passengers on a journey through lush forests, across historic trestle bridges, and past picturesque landscapes, creating a magical experience for kids and adults alike.
Along the way, you can dangle your legs over the edge of the carriage for an extra thrill or stop at Lakeside to enjoy Emerald Lake Park, complete with playgrounds and picnic spots.
